Now that Lucy has been with us a few weeks, her “entertaining visitors” schedule is filling up quickly. Unlike her sister, Lucy prefers to entertain guests by staying relatively comatose - funny how differences in their personalities are already so evident in such a short period of time.
Here’s Lucy during a visit from Aditi, Sean and Mira:
We also got Lucy started in the baby carrier - the device that helped us keep our sanity when Grace was born. The only difference is that with Grace, it was summer and we could walk all over the City. With Lucy, we do a lot of pacing in our little apartment. Note to future visitors: 88 trips around our living room = 1 mile.
And could life really be complete without spending a little time with Senor Fabio?
Fortuntately, it does occasionally warm up enough that Grace and her mom can get away for a few moments:
It’s been a week and a half since Lucy joined the Fuchster clan although today is officially day one - Lucy’s grandmother stayed with us for two weeks. She just left this morning meaning so we are only now figuring out what life is like with just the 4 of us - although the phrase “nonstop fun” certainly comes to mind.
Also to commemorate Lucy’s week and 1/2 anniversary - she decided to finally un-scrunch her face a bit so we could see if she’s actually related to us - unfortunately for her, she is.

But Lucy quickly returned to her normal state: Sleeping (we hesitate to even be sarcastic here lest we jinx it)
And just in case we get too comfortable with Lucy’s propensity for sleeping, Grace has been trying hard to get her sister to wake up and play with her. Here we see the unfortunate consequence of sending Grace to a French class: the only thing she’s retained from class apparently, is the “kiss”:
Lucy Rose Fuchs officially joined the Fuchster clan at 5:34 p.m on Tuesday, January 8, 2008. As part of what we’re told is a recent baby boom, there was “no room at the inn” so to speak when Lucy’s mom arrived at the hospital - so Lara was able to experience the joy of delivering Lucy in an operating room instead of a birthing room - the width of the bed was similar to that of a piece of lumber, inspiring Lara to deliver 24 minutes after entering the room. After only 4 pushes - Lucy arrived, three days before her due date. At 9 lbs. 2 ounces, she must have grown tired of her extremely close quarters and wanted a little breathing room. Much to her dismay, she realized that her new apartment is only slightly bigger than a womb.

The big question in everyone’s mind was how Grace was going to react to seeing her new sister. Apparently Grace has a bit of a foot fetish, and can already be seen sneakily leaning in to talk about her sister.
Grace wouldn’t have felt as if she had properly welcomed Lucy to the club if she didn’t deliver her trademark “face poke”:
