After sorting through several hundred images, we finally are able to share a few from our vacation to the Outer Banks - which was in July (I know, we’re way behind)
Among our many discoveries on this trip was the fact that Grace is a bit of a kamikaze when it comes to the beach - as in, as soon as she sees a wave she sprints toward it, gets knocked over, gets up and keeps charging back toward the sea.
She’s kind of like that near a swimming pool too. Perhaps when we go to the zoo she’ll be cavalier around the bear cage - that’ll also have a calming effect…
Here we are escorting her back from yet another sprint to the coastline:

And again…

And back she goes (in the second one we give in and actually escort her)

Then we briefly stop and pose for a Sears family style portrait:

With a few close-ups to finish:

While we wait for the photos of Grace’s vacation to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to arrive, we thought we’d share what we thought would be one of the more traumatic experiences of Grace’s first 14 months: her first haircut.
Turns out however, she loved it - perhaps it has been her lifelong dream to look like a famous advertiser of paint. For those who may think that Grace’s parents acted a bit too prematurely, here’s proof that it was indeed time for a new do.

To bribe Grace into good behavior, the stylist sat her in a pink car to make her feel like a “Pink Lady” from Grease. If only Grace turns out to be like Rizzo…

After a lot of debate, Grace’s mom made the final call that perhaps the “parted to the side” look wasn’t going to cut it and that Grace needed a little work on her bangs:

Fortunately, Grace does have a little Dutch ancestry on her mother’s side of the family, so her “Little Dutch Girl” look has some connection to family history.
